Evervale uses WildStar's own matchmaking queue and accept popup, so it works the way you remember.

Queue on your own or as a group, then accept when the match pops.

In arenas everyone has their own rating, so you can queue solo or with friends without a fixed team. Open arenas let you practise without touching your rating.

In an arena, right-click your team's ready banner to skip the waiting once everyone is in.
